Our story

A small studio, a lot of stories.

VintageWoodCanvas began on a kitchen table in Columbus, Ohio in 2014 — one secondhand laser, a stack of walnut offcuts, and a stubborn belief that the things on your walls should mean something.

How we started

From a kitchen table to a real workshop

Our founder, Nora, made the first piece as a gift — her grandmother's pie recipe, engraved in her actual handwriting. When relatives saw it at Thanksgiving, the orders started before dessert was finished.

A decade later we're a team of seven in a daylit workshop near downtown Columbus. We've grown, but the rule hasn't changed: every piece is made to order, finished by a human hand, and proofed before a single cut is made.

What we believe

Made slowly, made to keep

We could move faster with veneer and presets. We don't. We use solid North-American hardwood and archival canvas, we lay out every piece by hand, and we'd rather lose a sale than ship something we wouldn't hang in our own homes.

That's why there's always a free proof, and why our guarantee is simple: if it doesn't match the proof you approved, we remake it. No deals, no hurry, no fine print.
